New Japanese food centre “Eat at Seven” recently opened at Suntec. In the food centre there is a restaurant called “Maguro Donya Miura Misakikou” with clean and open feeling. Interior consists of modern appearance with timber and concrete-like finishes. Because of their open feeling and reasonable price range, you can enjoy your lunch, dinner after work or bring your family in weekend.
Their signature fish, tuna, is imported directly from Miura Misaki harbour in Kanagawa prefecture three times a week. Tuna kept at minus sixty degrees keeping their freshness. The owner said, he would like local Singaporean to enjoy the real taste of tuna.
I had sake called “Tatenokawa” Junmai Daiginjo from Yamagata prefecture. All the Sake produced from this brewer is all Junmai Daiginjo. Bland banana like aroma, thick sweet and umami appear at side and back of tongue, and then light sourness expands. It has a strong taste but it does not bother food at all. Sake bottles in the restaurant constantly changes. So it is good to check with the restaurant what you can find there.
I had two of their signature plate to pair with sake. First dish was sake pickled tuna (Shuto). There are fermented rich umami, saltiness, and light taste of yuzu. And together with sake, sweet fruit like taste expands. Infamous fatty tuna (Toro) indeed has fresh taste with rich umami melt with its fat. Tuna meat has a slight cut that absorbs soy source. Sake matches with its umami and sweetness, and then slight bitterness and sour taste appear.
I recommend this restaurant not only to business people, or family who comes to Suntec. I strongly advise to visit there for someone who seeks for real tuna taste.
